William (Bill) Howieson (1923 - 2003) was Born in Hamilton, Scotland, where he was given quite an introduction to classical music by visiting theatres as a youngster, in Glasgow with his father, who loved music, and was a great enthusiast of such famous singers as Enrico Caruso (1873 - 1921), Beniamino Gili (1890 - 1957), and others in the early 20th century such as John McCormack (1884 - 1945), and Peter Dawson (1882 - 1961) |
